Office furniture is a perfect commodity to buy used. Many items of office furniture are disposed of (hopefully donated) each year not because there is anything wrong with them structurally, but because businesses sometimes redecorate to maintain an image. Office chairs may be a different matter, as you need to buy a chair that suits your own body, not one that has been molded to someone else's. However, well-made desks, shelving units and metal filing cabinets are a joy to use and can be much less expensive to buy second-hand.
