Energy Systems

Energy systems are systems used to generate energy-electrical energy specifically, the energy we use to light our bulbs, heat our stoves and toaster ovens and power the engines we use to wash our clothes and cool our refrigerators.

The energy systems we currently use in this province are not very sustainable.   Greenhouse gas-emitting coal stations currently provide us with a large percentage of our electricity, which means that every month we are paying money that goes to polluting our air.  Many studies point to coal power plants as being a major cause of the climate change that we are currently experiencing (see the links below).  Nuclear power does not generate greenhouse gases, but it does generate some very toxic waste.

In these pages you will find businesses here in Peterborough and the Kawarthas who have other, more sustainable ideas about energy generation.  Wind and Solar energy are free on this earth, and they will be around for a long time.  These pages will tell you how to find more information about harnessing their energy for use in your home, office, or farm.
