Transportation
Canada is made up of wide spaces, and this area in particular is, fortunately for us, largely rural. Transportation therefore, will continue to be an important issue for us here in the Peterborough area. In these pages you will find information about the latest environmental technology in personal vehicles, plus other options for getting around.
There is some information about cycling in the Recreation section, so be sure to look there as well if you are interested in bicycles, but of course they are also an important method of transportation, so we also cover them here. We also have resources for walkers, busing within and outside of the city, and, of course, cars and trucks. Different fuel options are also covered with their various pros and cons. We hope there will be much more to come in the near future, as transportation must become more environmentally friendly than it currently is.
Always remember when shopping:
1. Is the product durable, or will it and its packaging end up in the landfill? 2. Is the product made/available locally, supporting our local economy and reducing transportation costs? 3. Does the product contain/emit toxins? 4. Did the product require energy to make? Will it require energy to operate/maintain?
