| | Cardboard and Boxboard Corrugated cardboard (the kind with the rippled inner layer) and boxboard (the material cereal boxes are made of) are part of both the County of Peterborough and City of Peterborough recycling programs.
In the City and County, cardboard is collected with weekly blue box materials and needs to be flattened and tied in bundles no more than 30" x 30" in size and no more than 8” thick. Otherwise it will not fit in the recycling trucks. Larger sizes can be dropped off at the Materials Recycling Facility, 390 Pido Road. For County residents, drop off larger sizes at your local township depot.
Paper bags, brown envelopes, paper egg cartons and light weight boxboard tubes can also be included with cardboard or boxboard for recycling.
Cardboard, boxboard and these related items are all banned from the landfill.
Please note that drinking boxes, milk cartons and other gable-topped containers DO NOT go with your cardboard. These items should be placed loose with your cans, tubs and jugs in your blue box or depot recycling container instead.
